Beaches
of Curaçao
|
You may still find the booklet "Complete
guide to landside diving and snorkeling locations in Curaçao"
in the local bookshops. This guide provides an excellent, albeit outdated, overview
of the beaches of Curaçao. |

Most beaches are private and you pay an entrance fee to get in. Some
of them have facilities, such as a bar or restaurant, showers and
toilets. The beaches are well kept, with white sand, palm and
other trees for the much needed shade in the hot sun. |

Visit at least one of the off the beaten track beaches. Here you won't see many people, or even none at all. These beaches are rocky and sometimes difficult to get to, especially in the rainy season. You definitely need your own car to get there, and sometimes stamina for a stiff walk. . A good place to go are the San Juan beaches. You pay Naf 5 per car and can pick any of three beaches (Playa Largu, Playa Chikitu, Boca Grandi). All three beaches can be reached by car. If you like a walk, go to Santa Cruz
beach and start walking along the shore towards the east. On the
left side of the bay, right behind the white house, a trail leads
towards the only black sand beach on the island, called Playa Santu
Pretu. |
